District Judge Ajay Krishna Vishvesha on Wednesday appointed district magistrate of Varanasi as the receiver for the southern cellar of the Gyanvapi mosque. This decision came in response to a suit filed by Shailendra Kumar Pathak, the head priest of Acharya Ved Vyas Peeth temple. Meanwhile, the request of advocate Vijay Shankar Rastogi to be included as a party in Vyas' suit was dismissed. Pathak initiated the legal proceedings on September 25, 2023.
