2024 Spring Season
So the roster has been updated for spring. We have 14 players, which is a lot for spring. That means we will have plenty of competition and be able to go hard against teammates and the 2-3 practice guys when they start full practices. I’m not sure when those start, but until then they do a lot of position work. For example, bringing in all the setters and working on a skill.
We graduated Amelia, Lindsey and Anna. Mia Otten has also left the program. She was hurt both years she was on the team. That’s always tough.
The team returns Lexie (RSSR) and Alayna (RSSR) in their 5th years. Alyssa (SR) will be in her 4th year as will Taylor Russell (RSJR).
We will have a ton of players entering their 3rd year with the program and classified as Senior, Juniors or sophomores.
RSSR - Brooke Smith who transferred in 2 seasons ago - 3rd season in UD’s program
RSJR - Brooke Nichols who transferred in 3 seasons ago and had a medical RS
RSSO - Kaitlyn McNeel
JR - Karrissa Kaminski
JR - Liana Sarkissian
JR - Emily Young
A couple comments on the true Juniors. First how the heck did Karissa, Liana and Emily become Juniors? They just joined the program, didn’t they? I think now that COVID years are basically wiped out of the system, we aren’t going to see 5-6 year players and these young women are going to fly through their college careers at warp-speed. Liana and Emily have a year in the starting rotation. Karissa has 2 years. And finally, a lot of players take big jumps in development, skills and maximizing their talents between their 2nd and 3rd years in a system. Any of the 6 players above could have big-time breakout years in 2024. At a minimum I would expect half to take some big leaps forward.
4 players will enter their 2nd year in the program. All are classified as true sophomores right now, but I expect 2 to be reclassified as RSFR when fall starts. I’m pretty sure you apply for that with the NCAA but can’t officially reclassify until you get their decision.
