Ravena man gets 25 to life for killing transgender woman
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Iaeir Robinson, 27, of Ravena, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison. Robinson was convicted of second-degree murder for causing the death of Ahsid Hemingway-Powell on May 27, 2022.
Hemingway-Powell, a transgender woman, was remembered by those who knew her as a passionate person who had a smile that could light up any room. She graduated from UAlbany in May 2022 with a degree in biology and planned on becoming a physician assistant.
Robinson was also sentenced to five years in state prison to run concurrently for a charge of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree. The charge stemmed from a separate case.
