Agencies thanked for response to Jan. 5th I-87 crash
WARREN COUNTY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- More than 30 groups and agencies were honored Friday by the Warren County Board of Supervisors for their response to the January 5th bus crash on the Northway in the Town of Lake George.
Certificates were handed out to representatives of a dozen EMS crews, three fire companies, the Glens Falls Hospital, and several state and county agencies. Warren County Sheriff Jim LaFarr said there is no mistaking this crash was a tragedy, but he is proud of the quick and efficient work that happened that day.
"To watch the agencies come together, to have no issues with who is in control, everybody just knowing their role, doing their jobs and doing it quickly and efficiently," LaFarr said, "and then from there, to remove victims from the cold very quickly, take them to a safe place to get them food and immediate medical care, it was quite impressive to watch."
One person died in the crash. About a dozen others were injured.
State Police say bus involved in Northway crash was operated by RM Transnational LTD. Previously, investigators said the bus belonged to Skyway Coachlines. Investigations into the cause are ongoing.
