TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Firefighters and the American Red Cross responded to a fire at 572 River Street in Troy Thursday afternoon. Troy firefighters say no one was injured and a cat and dog were rescued.
Firefighters say the fire broke out on the second floor of the building. All ambulances were on a different call along with the rescue squad, so additional help was requested from Watervliet Fire.
Crews were able to extinguish the fire on the second floor and prevent further damage to the building. According to the Red Cross, they provided emergency aid to 11 people from the fire.
The Red Cross says the household consisted of seven adults and four children. Volunteers offered health services and comfort kits with personal care items, as well as stuffed animals for the children.
