Mild-mannered Ohio dog could be perfect fit for families in apartments
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Dominique, a dog up for adoption at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center, has a unique characteristic: Her handlers don't remember ever hearing her bark.
"I think she could pretty much fit in anywhere," said Brandy Trott, behavior coordinator for the shelter. "I like that she's real playful and fun. She's always so happy, she just kind of brings a smile to your face when you see her."
Trott described Dominique as an excellent office dog, or one that would plug in well with families even in apartments. Her calm demeanor and lack of barking make her a good partner for someone who works from home or has neighbors. The behavior coordinator did recommend, though, that Dominique meet any other dogs in the home before adoption.
"I've not heard her bark, really at all, and she's good size for an apartment," Trott said. "She'll like, walk around outside but then she really likes to roll in the grass, so doesn't need lots of walks. I think she's very self-entertained with toys and stuff, so probably would easily be a good apartment dog."
Dominique is available for meet-and-greets at the Franklin County Dog Shelter, located at 4340 Tamarack Blvd. in Columbus, and costs just $18 to adopt. She is also eligible for fostering and potential foster-to-adopt setups as well.
