Adele Roberts supported by Dancing on Ice co-stars after announcing mum’s death hours after emotional first performance
ADELE Roberts’ Dancing on Ice co-stars have rushed to support her after she announced her mum’s death hours after her emotional first performance on the ITV show.
The 44-year-old shared the heartbreaking news on social media after bagging herself 27.5 for her performance Jimmy Cliff’s I Can See Clearly Now.
Adele shared the heartbreaking news that her beloved mum Jackie had passed away on January 4.
She apologised for being “overly emotional” tonight and explained that her dance was dedicated to her.
Many rushed to the comments section to share their love and support.
Her co-star Ryan Thomas said: “You did her so proud tonight.”
Claire Sweeney added: “You are such a beautiful brave woman and your mum would have been so proud xxxx.”
“You’re incredible Adele ! That one was for her ,” professional skater Colin Grafton chimed in.#
In the touching post Adele shared a snap of the mother daughter duo looking Adele’s skating boots.
Another clip saw the radio star showing her mum a video of her on the ice.
Adele wrote: “For you Mum. Tonight’s performance was dedicated to the memory of my beautiful Mum, Jackie Roberts.
“01.09.62 – 04.01.24. I didn’t want to say anything until I’d managed to get through our routine tonight. So apologies if it seemed I was overly emotional.
“My heart is broken and I miss my mum so much. Saying goodbye to her this week was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. My mum got to see the start of our routine… and tonight I wanted to finish it in her honour.”
She continued: “Thank you to the whole incredible Dancing On Ice team for guiding me through one of the toughest weeks of my life. Especially you Mark Hanretty.”
“I shall think of you and miss you everyday of my life. Forever my hero. Until we meet again.”
Adele underwent surgery in 2021 for bowel cancer.
The following year she revealed that she was cancer free.
When it was revealed that she was taking part, Adele explained: “That’s why I wanted to do the show – I want to show what’s possible with an ostomy.
“I feel like I am reclaiming my body back from cancer.
“I don’t think I am there yet, but I am getting there.”
