The baker, known as Rubes, posted a video to her 475,000 Instagram followers which showed her strolling through Central Park while James walked behind and flashed a box containing the ring.
She included more photos of the stunning rock hidden in plain sight throughout their holiday, but admitted James’ proposal was almost ruined by a bout of food poisoning.
She captioned her post: “Have deceptively been hiding my hand in the recent the vids because it’s taken me about 3 weeks to tell most of my family whilst it took James a whole 3 minutes.
“I wish we had a romantic story to go alongside it but food poisoning managed to kick in right about 5 mins before he was about propose and I was about to have a bridesmaid moment running across the street… so yay for love and yay for uncooked chicken in NYC.”
The couple were congratulated by fans, with TV presenter Steph McGovern writing: “Awww congratulations guys!!!”
ITV’s Doctor Amir Khan penned: “Oh my god I love you both, this is perfect.”
And Amanda Holden shared: “Congratulations darling. Such good news.”
The couple have been dating for over three years.
James started his career on CBBC and has hosted on Heart FM. He is now specialises in climate and science and hosts a BBC podcast.
Ruby made it to the final of Bake Off with Rahul Mandal and Kim-Joy Hewlett in 2018.
She became a huge hit on the show, but didn’t clinch that all-important, erm, cake stand.
These days she’s stuck around in the media, fronting cookery segments for Channel 4’s Steph’s Packed Lunch.
And that is all between the incredible jet-setting adventures with James on her envy-inducing Instagram feed.
