I have twins but they were born 12 months apart – I was absolutely terrified when found out and it still baffles people

ANY mum will know that adjusting to parenthood can be quite the challenge.

So spare a thought for 23-year-old Bailey, who was shocked to discover she was pregnant again just three weeks postpartum, meaning she now has Irish twins – a pair of siblings born less than 12 months apart. 

In a clip posted to TikTok (@baileyxlaplante), Bailey, who now has two under two, shared the moment she got a positive pregnancy test – just 12 weeks after returning from hospital after giving birth to her first daughter.

In the clip, she begins: “One year ago today I found out I was pregnant at 3 months postpartum.”

“I was absolutely terrified.”

Looking in the mirror as she cradles her burgeoning bump and asks: “How am I supposed to do this?”

She then shares a snap of her bump at 28 weeks and admits: “I was so terrified that I wouldn’t be able to do it…”

“But I wouldn’t have it any other way.

“This has been a wild ride but I’m so happy with how it turned out.”

In a second video, Bailey offers an honest insight into exactly what it’s like being a mum to Irish twins.

She begins by noting how she has “two of everything” and explains how she has to always inspect the shoe sizes before she puts them on her children.

“I’m an Irish twin mum…one kid loves dummies and the other one only likes them because the other one loves them,” she continues.

Bailey then shows a photo of the kids’ playroom which has toys all over the floor.

“I’m an Irish twin mum…of course my playroom looks like this,” she jokes.

She goes onto say how having two children so close in age also means they have to get two different nappy sizes, adding: “Of course my wallet is hurting because I’ve had to pay for all these nappies.”

Not stopping there, she adds that the pair are left “fighting over one high chair” and says for the past year people have been expecting another baby announcement.

The proud mum concludes: “I’m an Irish twin mum…of course people ask me if they’re twins even though they’re still young enough where they don’t look like twins.”
