Cough syrup recalled in Kansas over health concerns

0

TOPEKA (KSNT) - Federal health officials say a brand of cough syrup sold nationally is being recalled due to contamination concerns.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) said Haleon is voluntarily recalling eight lots of its "Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult" and "Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult" due to microbial contamination. The concern primarily lies with immunocompromised people as taking the recalled products could result in life-threatening events such as fungemia or disseminated fungal infection.

Those who are not immunocompromised are not likely to encounter life-threatening issues. However, the FDA warns that use of the recalled product may still result in a dangerous infection.

The product was sold to consumers nationally, including in Kansas, according to the FDA. Haleon has yet to receive any reports of illness attached to the recalled products which include:

  • Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult 4 oz
    • Lot number - T10810
    • Expiry date - Oct. 31, 2025
  • Robitussin Honey CF Max Day Adult 8 oz
    • Lot numbers - T08730, T08731, T08732, T07833 and T10808
    • Expiry dates - Are May 31, 2025 for all of the above lot numbers except for T10808 which is Sept. 30, 2025.
  • Robitussin Honey CF Max Nighttime Adult 8 oz
    • Lot numbers - T08740 and T08742
    • Expiry dates - June 30, 2026

If you purchased any of the recalled products, you are encouraged to avoid using them immediately. You can call Haleon at 1-800-245-1040 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST Monday through Friday or send an email to mystory.us@haleon.com.

The FDA urges those who have experienced health problems after coming into contact with the recalled products to reach out to their healthcare provider. You can make reports of adverse reactions to the recalled products by contacting the FDA's MedWatch Adverse Event Reporting program online.
