Calcasieu Parish man found dead in vehicle underwater

STARKS, La. (KLFY) – A Calcasieu Parish man was found dead inside his vehicle that was submerged in water in a ditch.
According to the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call in the 1000 block of Big Woods Starks Road in Starks early Thursday morning when they were notified of a vehicle in the ditch.
On arrival, they found a small SUV upside down in the ditch, underwater. With the help of the Starks Fire Department, deputies recovered the driver, Drake L. West, 23 of Starks, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The initial investigation found that West was attempting to negotiate a curve when the vehicle drifted off the roadway, into the ditch.
The cause of death has yet to be determined.
