Bizarre English experience where you have a boozy picnic – while surrounded by Highland cows

IF you love fluffy cows and drinking wine, then there is bizarrely a tour that ticks both the boxes.

Run by vineyard Laurel Wines and Dumble Farm, the Herd It On the Grapevine is a five hour tour in the north of the UK.

The farm itself is in the tiny village of Arram in East Yorkshire, a short drive from the town of Beverley.

Starting with a tour of the vineyard and winery, it also includes a full picnic for two with sandwiches, crisps, scones and a bottle of wine made on-site.

But it also includes a Highland cow safari across Dumble Farm, taken around by Dumble Bus which also has drinks and cakes onboard.

Tickets cost £40pp, with a minimum of two people, and runs from 10am to 3pm.

Sadly there are no tours available due to current flooding but the website states to “check back at a later date” for more availability.

However, they often go live around a month in advance, so they advise signing up for their mail alert for when they are on sale.

In the mean time, there are vineyard picnics every Thursday and Saturday which cost £20.

Or for £50 you can book a Cow Cuddling experience – but you might struggle to get tickets.

Owner Fiona previously said: “We sell out so fast.

“So many people have heard about cow cuddling now; it’s like trying to book for Glastonbury.”

She added: “Cows are very gentle, non-judgmental. You can sit with them and it’s a really relaxing feeling.”

Famous chefs the Hairy Bikers have visited the farm and other guests who tried it out have raved about the safari too.

One person wrote: “We had a wonderful morning with the Highland cows and were then dropped off at the edge of the beautiful vineyard.

“We were even able to re cork our unfinished wine to take home since we were driving and wanted to savour it once home.

“Beautiful place, beautiful food, beautiful wine, beautiful people.”

Another wrote: “A real hidden gem. My husband, myself and our springer spaniel enjoyed our visit.”

A third said: “Did a tour (with the cow safari!) and came back to help with the harvest. Great wine, food and service.”

Elsewhere in the UK you can go on a tour of the “golden triangle of vineyards”.

Run by Wine Tours of Kent, just 40 minutes from London you can visit a number of award-winning vineyards.

If you’re happy to leave the UK, there is even a wine theme park found in France.

Love Highland cows? Then head to this tiny UK island where you can find them paddling in the water.
