K-State shut down by Houston defense in lopsided loss

MANHATTAN (KSNT) - K-State basketball suffered its second loss in a row on Saturday.

The Wildcats finished a challenging week with an ugly loss to No. 4 Houston, 74-52. 52 points is K-State's second lowest point total of the season, it scored only 46 against Nebraska in December.

The Wildcats struggled to score the entire game against Houston, a team which ranks at the top of college basketball in several defensive statistics. Cam Carter paced the visiting Wildcats with 16 points.

Houston out rebounded K-State 38-28 in the first meeting between the two as conference foes. The Wildcats turned it over 18 times to Houston's eight.

The loss drops the 'Cats to 14-6 overall and 4-3 in Big 12 play. Tang's team returns to action on Tuesday with a home game against Oklahoma.
