Arrest made in connection to Guilderland fire
GUILDERLAND, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Guilderland man has been arrested in connection to a fire on Western Avenue, according to police. Jason Candlish, 45, is facing multiple charges.
The fire took place on January 26 at a building on the M and M Motel property, located at 2360 Western Avenue. Crews were able to knock the fire down in about two hours, and no firefighters were injured during the operation.
An investigation into the cause of the fire was conducted by the Guilderland Police Department and the State Office of Fire Prevention and Control, which resulted in Candlish being charged with third-degree arson and aggravated cruelty to animals. He was arraigned at the Guilderland Town Court and remanded to the Albany County Jail.
