THE Apprentice star Tim Campbell has amassed an amazing car collection over the years, including a £50,000 Mercedes.
Campbell has realised every petrolhead’s dreams as part of an amazing rags-to-riches story that saw him go from “too poor to afford a Pot Noodle” to being one of the nation’s best-known businessmen.
Last year, he told This Is Money: “We didn’t have much money, there was a need to save to make sure we had enough to pay our bills.
“We knew we couldn’t afford trips out, or to shop at supermarkets that didn’t have discounted deals. Mum was prudent and frugal.
“I was the first person in my family to go to university and surviving on a tight budget was stressful.
“I didn’t want to put any pressure on Mum because I knew she didn’t have the money to help me. At one point, I couldn’t even afford a Pot Noodle.”
Thankfully, times have now changed radically for the better, with Tim revealing that he purchased a £50,000 Mercedes-AMG GLE in 2020.
The stunning SUV, the latest version of which retails for over £90,000, is tuned to the max by Merc’s in-house performance company.
He didn’t mention which of the 11 different engine options he plumped for, but the base level three-litre petrol spec still manages a hefty 367 horsepower and top speed of 155 mph.
Tim added that he still has the car and “loves driving it”.
However, he was less keen on the first motor he bought once he hit the big time in business.
He told Metro in 2022 that after winning the first series of The Apprentice his first purchase was a blue dress for his four-year-old daughter, but that this was soon followed by a Range Rover.
The entrepreneur said he snapped it up as a “symbol of success” but regrets doing so as it was a “depreciating asset” and “not a wise thing to do”.
He soon sold it off and bought a new car on lease, though he didn’t disclose which make it was.
It comes after the full lineup of The Apprentice Series 18 was revealed, including a glam fitness coach and a pair of rival food moguls.
The first episode airs on BBC One at 9pm on February 1, followed by The Apprentice: You’re Fired on BBC Two at 10pm.
