FANS have rushed to the aid of EFL cult hero and former Plymouth star David Norris.

That’s after he put his League One winners’ medal up for sale while claiming his parents had “disappeared with my savings.”

Norris, 42, scored five goals in 45 matches to help Argyle win promotion to the Championship in 2004.

The ex-midfielder went on to enjoy more success with Ipswich, Portsmouth and Leeds.

But Norris has now put his League One — then known as the Second Division — winners’ medal for sale online.

Writing on X, Norris posted a picture of his collector’s item and encouraged supporters to “DM offers” of over £500.

Flabbergasted fans were shocked as to why Norris was flogging his medal.

And he claimed it was because his parents had taken his savings.

Norris said: “My parents have disappeared with my savings so going through solicitors/court to try and get some back but it’s obviously expensive.

“Ideally if I could get rid with a buy-back option that would be great.”

However, kind-hearted fans turned down the chance to buy Norris’ sentimental medal.

And they instead created a Just Giving donation page, encouraging other supporters to help raise £1000.

Incredibly, as of Tuesday 30 January, the page had received donations of £4,328 following sums from 321 people.

Norris was blown away by the show of support from fans of his former clubs.

He said: “I don’t know where to start. I was just trying to raise some money to help with solicitors/court costs but overwhelmed beyond belief for everyone’s support.

“Thank you for allowing me to keep the medal, can’t believe the response.

“Once it’s over I will pay back or donate back.”
