I live in a council house but you’d never guess thanks to my expensive-looking buys that I got from The Range
A COUNCIL tenant has been told that her home’s interior looks too “expensive” to be social housing.
Danielle, who lives in a council house, has spent lots of time and effort making her home look so stunning, that people can’t believe it’s not a super expensive property.
She shared a house tour via a video posted to her TikTok channel @danielleshomex.
Danielle often uses the account to share videos of her interior design.
Her videos are very popular with social media users, and she has totted up over 12,000 followers on the video sharing platform.
In the video, Danielle first showed viewers her modern looking hallway, complete with a glass chandelier.
Then she filmed her sleek black and white kitchen, which has a tv mounted on the wall.
Finally, she shared clips of her gold coloured living room, which has a large corner sofa, an elaborate wall mirror and a diamond encrusted light fixture.
Danielle’s video left some people suggesting that she didn’t even live in a council house.
Leaving a comment below the video, one user said: “I thought council houses are for people that are poor? This looks expensive.”
Another user said: “If you can afford to do all of this you should be buying your own house.”
In response, Danielle made a second video, showing that although her house looks boujie, many of the items inside are from budget stores like The Range.
In her living room, Danielle has golden butterfly doorknobs, and these cost her just £8.99 from Amazon.
She also has golden light switch covers, that cost £5.82 from TLC Electrical.
Danielle’s cream curtains were only £37.99, and were an absolute bargain from The Range.
She also has an ornate looking golden wall mirror, but this cost just £19.95 from Melody Maison.
The interior design pro also has a heart shaped lamp that cost £35 from B&Q and a lamp from The Range that cost £15.99.
Council houses are provided by local authorities to those in need.
Commenting under this video, many TikTok users said that Danielle has a great eye for interiors and should think about becoming a full time interior designer.
They are often cheaper than renting private housing and can also offer greater security from eviction.
Council houses are allocated to prospective tenants via a points based system, with those in greater need given homes first.
The council will contact you about an available property when you are high enough up the waiting list.
