‘So we’ll all go to Superdrug’ disgruntled shoppers claim as Primark employee reveals MAJOR change in the beauty section
DISGRUNTLED shoppers have been left fuming after a Primark employee revealed a major change to the beauty section.
So if you’re a beauty fan, you’ll need to listen up.
Last year, it was revealed that Primark would be discontinuing their much-loved cotton pads.
Back in October, a Primark employee revealed the news that stores would no longer be selling the disposable cosmetic cotton pads.
Shoppers were left totally gutted that the ‘120pk PS… Cotton Cosmetic Pads’, which cost just 50p, were to be removed from shelves.
But now, a Primark employee from the Huddersfield branch, has revealed what you can expect to find instead.
Posting on social media, the retail worker showed off the chain’s new selection of reusable pads.
She explained: “One of my most recently asked questions in Primark is ‘where are the cotton pads?’
“And to answer your question – we discontinued them.
“Primark has chosen to take a more environmentally friendly route, which is where we introduce the reusable cleansing pads.
“They come in packs of 10 [£2], packs of five [£2.50].
“We also have a Glow Skin Set [£2.50], which has three different types of pads in it.
“A set that has three different size cleansing pads [£2.50].
“We also sell these wash bag sets [£2] – they are perfect for your pads to go straight into the washing machine.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @primarkhudds, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 408,200 views in just one day.
But social media users weren’t happy with Primark discontinuing the cotton pads – and many took to the comments to express this.
One person said: “Nooooooooooooo, I’m officially heartbroken.”
Another added: “Not happy. They were so cheap.”
A third commented: “I am so sick of good things being took away.”
Whilst another beauty fan admitted: “Crying right now.”
But not only this, many shoppers claimed that as a result of Primark’s new beauty shake-up, they would not be visiting the chain.
One user penned: “I go to Aldi now for mine. Don’t have an excuse to go to Primark anymore.”
A second chimed in: “Primark’s loss – Boots and Superdrug’s gain.”
Someone else wrote: “I’ll get mine on Shein and Aldi from now on stupid move Primark.”
Whilst another shopper shared: “Ok so we’ll all go to Superdrug.”
Since the major change to the beauty section, Primark released a statement on the reusable pads.
The website stated: “Goodbye single-use and hello reusable!
“Our reusable cleansing pads have landed in-store and are set to be your new fave skincare tool.
“Now, we know how convenient disposable cotton pads can be in your skincare routine. Take one out the packet, remove your makeup, toss in the bin and done.
“However, as part of our Primark Cares initiative, we want to do more to reduce waste across our business and encourage our customers to do the same.”
But if you are gutted at the news, don’t worry – you’ll need to head down to Home Bargains as quickly as you can.
If the discontinued Primark buy were a favourite of yours, you’ll be thrilled to know that Home Bargains are now selling an almost identical buy.
Not only are they practically the same, but they’ll cost you just 69p – yes, you heard that correctly.
Beauty fan and shopping lover Frankie Parker recently took to social media to share her first Home Bargains haul of 2024.
She picked up a variety of cheap buys, with all things from cleaning sprays to food and drink, but she was incredibly impressed with the cheap cotton pads.
As she picked up the cotton pads, she explained: “These are just as good as the Primark ones. I feel like going to Primark is such an effort now.”
