Minnesota Finishes Strong to Beat Thunder

0

In a game with 24 lead changes, Minnesota got the lead last, and went on a 9-2 run down the stretch to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 107-101 on Monday night in downtown Oklahoma City.

After taking the lead for the last time on a Shai Gilgeous-Alexander jumper with 3:25 to play, it was 95-94 Thunder.

OKC's next five possessions resulted in four missed shots and a turnover, and the Timberwolves closed it to even the season series at two games apiece and take a one game lead on the Thunder in the Western Conference standings.

All five Minnesota starters scored in double figures, led by Anthony Edwards, who had 27 points, including dunk with 1:57 left to put the Timberwolves up 101-97.

The Thunder were led by 37 points from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who was 15-for-16 from the free throw line.

Only two other Thunder players scored in double figures, with Jalen Williams scoring 20 points and Josh Giddey 13.

Minnesota native Chet Holmgren had just four points.

Each team made 14 three-pointers, but Minnesota outshot OKC from the floor, 48 percent to 44 percent.

The Thunder fall to 32-15 on the season, and continue their four-game homestand Wednesday night against Denver, who as of the end of the Thunder game on Monday, have the same record as OKC.
