People in southern Mizoram strongly oppose the fencing of the India-Myanmar border, as it would deprive villagers of their livelihood. The lone Rajya Sabha member from Mizoram, K Vanlalvena, was informed about this during his visit. The leaders of Mizo Zirlai Pawl also objected to the fencing and the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime.
