Munawar Faruqui has not yet been charged in a 2021 case for allegedly making objectionable remarks about Hindu deities during a show in Indore, as the investigation is still ongoing. Police have sought permission to file charges under section 295-A of the Indian Penal Code. Faruqui and four others were arrested in January 2021 for hurting religious sentiments, but a chargesheet has not been submitted.
