FROM hair extensions to growth serums, women go to great lengths for great length.

One woman has the opposite problem, she might just have the thickest hair in the world.

Sofia Valdivieso, 19, spoke exclusively to The U.S. Sun about her luscious locks and how she takes care of them.

The El Salvador native explained that while she has always had long hair, a rebellious phase in her teenage years saw her chop off her locks.

“I wanted to be different and I didn’t want to have to care about my hair whatsoever so I just cut it as short as I could,” the journalism student said.

Sofia admitted to regretting the bold move soon after, citing her late-stage puberty as the reason.

“I just looked like Mowgli from The Jungle Book for about two years,” she joked.

“Ever since I was like ‘I’m going to let my hair grow’ and here I am, still letting it grow.”

In a TikTok video, she even claimed she has the “thickest hair in the world.”

During her hair growth journey, Sofia established a YouTube channel where she originally talked about book content.

However, she soon widened her platform, venturing into hair and beauty topics which gained traction on social media.

It was Sofia’s mother who pointed out that her “extensive holistic hair routine” might be of some interest to her followers.

The haircare enthusiast broke down some of her top tips and tricks.

“I started researching more about how to take care of my hair once I got to this length because it is kind of overwhelming,” she explained.

“I was also trying to grow it more so I started using oils based in my country, which I started to sell.

“I was selling this oil called Willow, which you really can only find in El Salvador, and I started using that to promote my hair growth.

“I started using this flaxseed gel, it’s a big thing that I promote and I think it’s the most popular thing on my channel, everyone asks me about it.

“I try to stay more on the natural side of things when it comes to hair products, of course with shampoo I don’t make my own.

“On my channel, I promote how to take care of your hair, and hair growth in natural ways that won’t break the bank.

“These oils are being promoted online and it’s like $50 for a small bottle right, when we can get all these things in our backyard and still have the same results.”

Sofia has also promoted the coal washing method, which involves massaging conditioner into the roots of your hair.

“A lot of people weren’t aware of it because I guess the audience that the video [reached] was people with straight hair and for them, it’s a crime.

“My hair is pretty straight right now because I blow-dried it, but my hair is naturally very coarse and curly.

“It’s very popular with most people who have coarser hair.

“It’s just a way of not having to strip your hair of the natural oils that it creates so often.

“It’s like a light washing and so if it’s dirty it’ll clean it a bit but it’s not a deep cleansing, it’s mostly conditioning and moisturizing.”

Sofia explained that she can go up to 10 days without washing her hair and often waits until she has the energy for the extensive process, which includes brushing out tangles.

“I have to like have my schedule cleared for a big moment of time,” she joked.

She has also poked fun at struggling to fit her hair into certain hairstyles, admitting that her go-to ‘do is a bun, especially in humid weather.

Sofia also addressed some of the issues she has with her longer locks.

“One struggle I was thinking about, I’ve recently been traveling a lot and I realized that when I sit down on the toilets, my hair touches it,” she shared.

Sofia revealed that she often has to wrap her hair around her neck like a scarf when using public restrooms.

She also highlighted the importance of taking care of your hair ends as well as your scalp.

“If you’re not taking care of your ends, it’s just going to break off right after.

“So I think it’s equally as important to not only take care of the scalp growing your hair but taking care of your ends, it’s like a balance.”

Sofia also discussed the role of a healthy balanced diet when it comes to hair growth.

“If you’re undereating, you’ll experience more hair loss, [there have] been many times where I’m more stressed and I’m not eating as well and I see it in my hair.”

She also recommended using silk bonnets and pillowcases while you sleep, regardless of your hair type.

And when it comes to her own hair growth journey, Sofia, who hasn’t cut her hair in over three years, doesn’t see an end in sight just yet.

While her grandmother has threatened to cut it off in her sleep and some hairdressers have been rude about it, she has no plans to make the chop.

“Everyone asks me if I’m going to cut it but I don’t know, I don’t think I have an answer to that yet,” she said.
