Prince Louis gifted ‘priceless’ pair of Adidas Stan Smith trainers – but ‘he’s unlikely to wear them’

PRINCE Louis may have an impressive collection of footwear – but according to one expert, we won’t see the young Royal sporting the trendy Adidas Stan Smith trainers gifted to him.

The youngest of the Wales clan, five, has received a number of lavish pressies over the years, including an £8k book from Uncle Harry, an adventure-themed birthday, as well as limited-edition Stan Smith trainers.

Back in 2019, whilst mum Kate was watching a men’s final at Wimbledon, she was handed an incredible gift to give to Louis – a pair of unique white trainers.

The Grand Slam champion was tennis player turned trainer designer Stan Smith – and he handed the Princess of Wales an adorable mini pair of his iconic Adidas trainers.

The special pressie had also been personalised with a message written in gold pen reading: “To Louis” alongside his signature on the side.

But although the shoes are definitely ”priceless”, as described by the royal expert Igrid Seward, it’s ”unlikely” fans of the Royal family will see the five-year-old wear them.

Chatting exclusively with Fabulous, royal author Phil Dampier explained why the stylish kicks will most likely remain sitting in the wardrobe.

”Stan Smith is a Wimbledon legend and his distinctive Adidas trainers are an iconic design.

”Long before the likes of Nike came on the scene it was trendy to wear Puma and Adidas trainers in the sixties and seventies.

”And now these brands have come full circle and there is an enormous interest in the simpler but stylish designs,” the guru noted.

”Stan was one of the first to model state of the art tennis shoes which in those days were the thing to have.

”There weren’t that many designs or makes around and that is why people of a certain age remember them so well.”

This, he went on to note, is why the youngest of the Wales family won’t sport the trainers – he’d rather cherish them and appreciate their value, as he gets older.

”Little Louis is unlikely to wear them as they will be extremely valuable, especially as they were given to him.

”He won’t be aware of the history himself of course but when he becomes a teenager I’m sure he will treasure them.”

Phil chuckled: ”It’s only a matter time before we see him and his siblings on the Centre Court in the Royal Box and I’m sure he will meet Stan there one day.”

The expert also recently revealed that it’s ”unlikely” the five-year-old Prince has read the £8k book gifted by the Duke of Sussex yet.

The 39-year-old bought the young royal a first edition copy of Winnie-The-Pooh – and it has very poignant ties to his mother, Princess Diana.

A friend said: “One of Harry’s happiest childhood memories was being read a bedtime story by his mother.

“She loved all the old classics and Harry had the brilliant idea of starting a little library of first editions for Louis, Charlotte and George to enjoy as they get older.

“He originally wanted to get Lewis Carroll’s Through The Looking Glass, which was on sale for £24,000, but decided Winnie-The-Pooh would be more suitable for a first time.

“Robinson Crusoe was William’s favourite book, but Harry loved all things A.A. Milne.”

The Duke of Sussex is said to have bought the 1926 AA Milne book — of which 30,000 were printed in the first run — from Peter Harrington in London.

The royal author said: “It was lovely of Harry to give this precious book to Louis but I expect he has also got a cheaper version so he can read it properly.

“William and Kate wouldn’t want him thumbing his way through the expensive copy and ruining it by damaging some pages.

“It will only increase in value so they would want to keep it in good condition as a family heirloom.”
