Despite intense speculation surrounding his future, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has reportedly decided to stay at Tottenham Hotspur and help the team until the end of the season, at the very least.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is in uncharted territory this season with Spurs, having dropped down the pecking order and seeing his playing time reduced under Ange Postecoglou.
With the impressive form of Yves Bissouma and Pape Sarr, and the return of Rodrigo Bentancur from injury, Hojbjerg is now competing with Oliver Skipp as the main back-up to the preferred pairing in the middle of the park.
However, with injuries, suspensions, and international duty, Hojbjerg has been playing more of late, and completed the full 90 minutes against both Manchester United and Manchester City.
It is thought Hojbjerg had been told he could find a new club this month (Football Insider). The Dane has been linked with a move to various clubs over the last few months, including Newcastle United (Chronicle), Lyon (Foot Mercato), Napoli, and Juventus (Kick).

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is staying at Spurs
However, with just days remaining in the winter window, Hojbjerg’s lawyer has released a statement indicating the 28-year-old will not be leaving Spurs this month.
The statement, shared by Florian Plettenberg, reads: “Despite rumours and noise the player always kept focus on helping the team, coaches, and Tottenham. The player never asked to leave now. He’s very ambitious for Tottenham and Denmark. Continuing to keep improving himself, like he did all his career.
“He’s a strong character and player, his only focus is Tottenham to finish the season well and to help as much as possible. Pierre always liked challenges.”
Spurs Web Opinion
I have to say I am a little bit surprised by this, but I assume the thinking from Spurs’ point of view is that Hojbjerg is good enough to see us through to the summer at least, when it may be easier to upgrade and get our top target.
