My lips were left black & wrinkly after having filler dissolved – people said I looked ‘necrotic’ so I had more
AFTER ten years spent getting her lips plumped, beauty-lover Amy Giovannini decided it was finally time to have her filler dissolved.
But when she stared at her reflection in the mirror post-removal, the face that stared back was far from one she knew.

The 29-year-old of Angmering, West Sussex shared a TikTok video which showed a close-up view of the bruising around her mouth.
Her viewers described her appearance as “necrotic”, and said the dark purple bruising around her lips was “like a hematoma”.
It had been a decade since Amy booked her first injectable treatment at 18 years old, from which point she’d had her lips pumped every six months or so.
She has since received a total of 9ml – but realised last year that it might be time to embrace her natural smile, when the filler began to migrate underneath her bottom lip.
Amy had the filler in her lips dissolved in September, and was devastated with the results.
She explained: “At first I hated how they looked as I was used to having such big lips.”
Her mouth and the skin around it was dark purple, her lips much smaller than what they had been for many years.
Once the bruising had faded, Amy said she was left with “really wrinkly and dry” lips which were “never going to be the same as what they [once] were.”
Her TikTok followers couldn’t believe her transformation and flooded her page with compliments.
One person wrote: “OMG you look SO much better! You are beautiful!”
Another said: “This looks so much better on you! Fits and compliments your face very well.”
And someone else commented: “Honestly, it looks so good now, great decision.”
Amy’s natural lips grew on her too, although she did have 1ml of filler returned to them as they had “lost so much volume and were very wrinkly”.
She said: “I’m so much happier with them [now] – I don’t know why I didn’t do it sooner!”
The beauty-lover added: “They were never going down, they were never getting smaller – I was literally just adding to the filler that was already in them.
“I think where I’ve had so much filler to begin with, they were just building up and building up, which has led to the migrating the way that they did.
“I do think filler is addictive.
“I think it’s knowing when enough is enough, and obviously I definitely didn’t know when enough was enough, until I look back at photos now and think ‘oh my god, what did I do to my face?”
