Police chase ends with crash into NW Oklahoma City home
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) - Two people were arrested after leading police on a pursuit and crashing into a northwest Oklahoma City house Monday morning.
"Can't really say what I was thinking on TV. I was like what's going on,” said Barron McDonald.
McDonald and his wife had a rude awakening Monday morning.
"I heard a loud boom,” said McDonald. "I walked around the corner and saw the car was in my house."
The aftermath of the pursuit is scattered throughout his living room.
"This morning, at about 8:30 Oklahoma City officers attempted to stop a vehicle on a traffic [violation] around NW 10th and Youngs [Blvd],” said Sgt. Dillon Quirk, with OKCPD. “As officers approached that vehicle, it fled, initiating a pursuit.”
The driver made it about a half a mile before crashing into the house McDonald’s renting, on the corner of NW 13th and Villa Ave.
A construction crew was working just a few doors down.
“I came around the house, saw the smoke coming out of the front of the house, and the police officers had one man at gunpoint and another one took off through the neighbor's yard into the backyard,” a worker told KFOR.
Both suspects were eventually arrested. One was injured, but is expected to be okay.
McDonald’s lived in the house for about 6 months. He said while he, his wife and dogs weren’t hurt, they now need to find a temporary place to stay.
"By the time I saw it and I saw that everyone was okay. We was alright. I wasn't scared,” said McDonald. “I'm just like what am I going to do now?"
McDonald added he plans to take things “one minute at a time.”
