Shaker edges Duanesburg in Monday night delight
LATHAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Shaker girls basketball team took down a hot Duanesburg team that was on a five-game winning streak, with freshman Sofia Lanni leading the way with 17 points.
Early on, the Eagles had the hot hand starting the game on an eight-to-nothing run, but thanks to some sharp shooting by the Blue Bison offense, they erased the deficit and ended the first quarter on top 14-8.
However, Duanesburg got a spark from Allison O'Hanlon who scored three of her team-high 25 points to give the Eagles a one-point lead. The Blue Bison answered back with a flurry of offense and went into halftime with a 27-23 lead.
They kept the momentum for the early portion of the second half, with Giadi Lanni giving Shaker a six-point advantage. Despite that, O'Hanlon came back for more and helped the Eagles secure the lead at the end of the third quarter.
Transitioning to the final frame, after going back and forth with a couple of lead changes, Lexi Carrington delivered the dagger to seal the 54-52 win.
