Saranac Lake to host return of Winter Carnival
SARANAC LAKE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Saranac Lake will be presenting the return of their annual Winter Carnival. The event will kick off on February 2.
The yearly carnival was first held in 1897 as a one-day fancy dress winter event. Over 100 years later, the now 10-day festival has evolved to feature two parades, sports competitions, multiple fireworks shows and a variety of performances.
The center piece of the event is the famous Ice Palace, built on the shore of Lake Flower's Pontiac Bay. The carnival will run from February 2 through February 11.
The Saranac Lake Winter Carnival will be held at 22 River Street. The event is free to attend, though some activities may have participation fees.
