Man convicted of assaulting former partner gets 20 years

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Jahaad Ubrich was sentenced to twenty years of incarceration. Ubrich was convicted of assaulting his former intimate partner and mother of two of his children.

According to court documents, Ubrich went to the victim's apartment in July 2022 and pretended to be a homeless person asking for redeemable cans. When the victim opened the door, Ubrich reportedly burst in and attacked her while she was protecting their four-month-old son.

He fled before police arrived but was located shortly after. The victim sustained a fractured nose and lacerations to the head and arm.

A week-long trial was held in August 2023. Ubrich was convicted of burglary in the first and second degree, assault in the third degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Ubrich was also sentenced to serve five years of post-release supervision. A 32-year order of protection was ordered for the victim and their son.
