Grand jury indicts Carencro man with murder at Plantation Inn motel
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- A grand jury has indicted a man for murder for a homicide at the Plantation Inn motel in November 2023.
Carrol Steno, 41, of Carencro has been indicted by a Lafayette Parish grand jury on the charge of Second Degree Murder.
Lafayette Police Sergant Robin Green says the fatal incident stems from the selling of radio equipment back in November 2023 along Evangeline Thruway.
"The transaction being made, it just so happened at the Plantation Motor Inn was the area of where the transaction was occuring," Sgt. Green added.
Greeen explains local law enforcement have dealt with Steno before.
"We have crossed paths with Mr. Steno before in 2007. We arrested him for possession of marijuana and aggravated assault with a knife," Green explained. "In 2004, we arrested him for simple burglary of a residence with force. What I can tell you is that he has had other prior convictions with other parishes in this area. He has a host of charges in a lot of different areas."
