AUSTIN (KXAN) — Someone in Austin just had a very lucky day!
An anonymous Austin resident has claimed a winning lottery ticket worth $34 million.
The ticket was sold at the H-E-B located at 7025 Village Center Drive, near MoPac and Far West Boulevard, for the Dec. 30, 2023, drawing. The Quick Pick ticket matched all six numbers drawn: 6, 7, 23, 34, 37 and 50.
The anonymous winner chose the cash value option when the ticket was purchased, meaning they won a lump sum of $20,205,534.60 before taxes. That makes it the seventh-largest lottery win ever in the KXAN viewing area.
The largest lottery win locally was more than $150 million, paid to a Leander resident in October 2019. That win also ranks as the second-largest ever in Texas.
