Search continues for man accused of killing estranged wife
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) – It’s been four months since a Galloway mother was gunned down in front of her home. Investigators said the person responsible is her estranged husband.
Now, the U.S. Marshals Service and Columbus Police are working together to find Jose Gomez-Santana, wanted on a murder charge.
“My mom didn’t deserve that,” Angel Gomez’s daughter Sipriana Garcia said last month. “Like, there is no way she could have deserved dying alone in the driveway.”
“This individual is accused of shooting and killing his estranged wife,” U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio Michael Black said.
Gomez-Santana, 50, plotted an ambush-style shooting that targeted his estranged wife, according to law enforcement officials.
“He's accused of arranging a meeting with her,” Black said. “When she arrived, he shot her twice, once as she laid in the driveway of the home where they once lived together.”
The shooting happened on Sept. 25, 2023, on the 5700 block of Pepperwood Court in Galloway.
“Our investigators have been working to locate him, but that's why it's so important that we get tips and get information from the public,” Black said. “This is a violent fugitive and we need to get him off our streets.”
Black has a warning for anyone who may be assisting Gomez-Santana avoid capture.
“If, throughout the investigation, we discover anybody that’s helping him elude apprehension, prosecution, they can be charged with a crime as well,” he said.
Gomez's daughter wants the man accused of taking her mother's life in custody.
"It's just weird because, like, every single day in my life, like, I'm always going to miss my mom,” Garcia said. “Like, always, it's never going to go away.”
