Kansas to Host Four Home Games at Arrowhead Stadium During 2024 Season

0

Kansas University is undergoing a major renovation of its football stadium, meaning David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium will not be in use for the 2024 season. As a result, the Jayhawks need somewhere to play next year, and the school officially announced on Tuesday where it will host home games.

Kansas football will officially play its four Big 12 home games at Arrowhead Stadium, the home of the Kansas City Chiefs, in 2024. The Jayhawks are set to host TCUHoustonIowa State and Colorado in the revamped conference next year.

Additionally, Kansas has two non-conference home games to open the season, but they will host Lindenwood and UNLV at Children’s Mercy Park, the home of Sporting Kansas City of the MLS.

The renovations at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium are part of a $300 million investment called “Gateway Project,” to improve the school’s athletic facilities. Phase 1 of the project, which involves much of the stadium renovations, is expected to be completed by ’25.

In the meantime, the Jayhawks will temporarily use other stadiums in nearby Kansas City for their home games. Kansas finished last year with a 9–4 record and a Guaranteed Rate Bowl win, the team’s best season since 2007, and is hoping to continue that success at Arrowhead.
