Speedo-Clad Swim Team Tries to Distract Free Throw Shooter in College Basketball Game
College teams showing support for different sports in the same athletic program is always fun and encouraging. The Holy Cross men’s swim team may have raised the bar on demonstrating school spirit on Monday night during a men’s college basketball game between the Crusader and Boston University.
With less than 10 seconds remaining in the first half, BU’s Ethan Okwuosa lined up to shoot two free throws when the men’s swim team ran out from the pool next door, still wearing their Speedo suits and caps, for some distraction from the concourse.

The crowd at Hart Center Arena responded positively to the swim team’s arrival and intra-program support. Between seven nearly naked men hopping and waving behind the basket and the increased crowd noise, Okwuosa could have been understandably distracted and missed his free throws.
However, the junior guard stayed focused at the line, hitting both shots to increase the Terriers’ lead to 39–33. Okwuosa finished with 10 points, going 4 for 4 at the line.
Perhaps inspired by the swim team’s support, Holy Cross rallied in the second half for a 65–63 victory. Freshman Khalil Singleton led the Crusaders with 18 points.
