Softball Federation of Pakistan elections: Asif Azeem elected as President


Asif Azeem has been elected as the new President of the Softball Federation of Pakistan (SFP) for a four-year term. The election was held during a general meeting at the Karachi Gymkhana sport club in Karachi. Naseem Khan will serve as the SFP Secretary.



The board, which was elected unopposed and includes five women, is composed by:



  • Senior Vice-President: Prof Dr Farhan Essa Abdullah 
  • Chairperson: Yasmin Hyder
  • Vice-Presidents: Farah Saeed, Tehmina Asif, Dr Hina Jamshed Khan, Shahid Shinwari and Muzammil Hussain
  • Joint Secretary: Farhan Rashid 
  • Finance Secretary: Mohammad Zeeshan Merchant 
  • Associate Secretary: Murad Hussain 
  • Chairman Umpiring: Shahid Aftab 
  • Chairman Coaching: Asim Khan 
  • Chairman Technical Committee: Faraz Ejaz 
  • Executive Committee Members: Mohammad Nasir, Ahmed Yar Khan, Ali Haider and Raisa Farhan.


According to local press, members unanimously supported proposed amendments to the Federation's constitution to comply with the governance principles of the International Olympic Committee and the implementation of new reforms from the World Baseball Softball Confederation. Azeem, who was previously the SFP Secretary General, will establish a committee for this purpose. The assembly also approved the cal­endar for the coming year. 



The newly elected president Azeem, along with other officials, acknowledged the contributions of former federation President Haider Khan Lehri towards the development and promotion of the sport in the country.
