TSG Hoffenheim enters into a partnership with COPA Soccer Training Center

0
The Bundesliga club TSG Hoffenheim has entered into a three-year partnership with California-based company COPA Soccer Training Center (COPA STC) from Walnut Creek. The scientific collaboration is rooted in a mutual commitment to advancing the realms of innovation and data within the world of football, showcasing TSG's unparalleled expertise in these domains. Emphasizing talent identification and development, TSG Hoffenheim, recognized as a frontrunner in these areas, aims to foster an enriching exchange of knowledge and insights with COPA STC. This partnership marks a significant milestone, aligning two visionary entities dedicated to shaping the future of football through cutting-edge approaches and collaborative excellence.

Founded in 2015 by CEO Mark Hall, COPA Soccer Training Center offers a unique training environment spanning over 10,000 square meters, equipped with high-tech training systems and experienced coaches. The facility provides unique conditions and a comprehensive environment for the technical, cognitive, and athletic development of players at all levels, from aspiring MLS (Major League Soccer) talents to professional players.

While Hall diligently laid the groundwork for this infrastructure in recent years, his clandestine efforts have been directed toward an even larger goal. Positioned as a trailblazer in the realm of talent discovery and development, he envisions pioneering an objective, data-driven revolution. The American entrepreneur is dedicated to create a standardized test score for the objective assessment of football players, aiming to establish it as a crucial prerequisite for associations, professional clubs, and universities alike.

As part of the partnership, TSG Hoffenheim – spearheaded by TSG's CEO Dr. Jan Mayer and his expert team – will support COPA STC with its know-how and expertise in the field of physiological, psychological, and cognitive diagnostics. "Over the past years, we have consistently evolved into an innovation leader in German football," explains Jan Mayer, expressing his enthusiasm that their work is bearing fruit internationally. "This collaboration with COPA STC is particularly remarkable as it allows us to secure yet another outstanding international partner in the realm of innovation.”

Mark Hall adds, "I have visited numerous leading European academies, and while there are many outstanding organizations, the exceptional expertise of TSG and its scientifically grounded approach have left a lasting impression on me. Their discipline and methodology align with a certain moral integrity rooted in the pursuit of shaping better individuals for our shared future. This player-centric approach is implemented in a humble and sustainable manner, serving as an excellent example that our own organization can strive to emulate."

Mayer personally visited the center in California a few years ago. "It is truly exciting for us at TSG Hoffenheim to contribute to the development of soccer in the US and to support this endeavor on a scientific basis." Jan Mayer himself will serve as a member of the scientific committee (Advisory Board) as part of the development work. In addition to the actual project results, he expects the cooperation with the American company from the host country of the 2026 World Cup to "further advance the brand development of TSG Hoffenheim internationally." The collaboration with COPA Soccer Training Center marks a significant expansion of TSG's footprint in the United States. TSG Hoffenheim has previously established a partnership with FC Cincinnati since the 2020/2021 season. FC Cincinnati achieved a historic milestone in 2023, solidifying their dominance in Major League Soccer by clinching the prestigious Supporters' Shield, marking their first-ever MLS trophy and adding a remarkable chapter to their ascent in league history.
