100 king cakes stolen from New Orleans' King Cake Drive-Thru, business reports
NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — For the second time this Carnival season, a New Orleans bakery is reporting a king cake theft.
According to an Instagram post made by the owners of the King Cake Drive Thru, 100 king cakes were stolen from the business's delivery van on Tuesday.
The post stated the business was created to support local bakeries and create convenience for those wanting king cake in the New Orleans area.
Employees are currently working to get the van repaired and added that a winter jacket was also stolen from the vehicle.
The theft comes three days after someone broke into Bitter Sweet Confections on Magazine Street on Jan. 25. Seven king cakes were stolen, along with cash and bottles of vodka.
The Magazine Street business owner also took to Instagram to alert the public of the crime, stating, "Our king cakes are just that good, but please come and purchase one during our regular store hours.”
A second post on the incident was made by the owner, thanking the community for their support during the hardship.
