Body of motorcycle crash victim found in canal two days after accident

A green Kawasaki motorcycle was lying in a wreck on a Florida Turnpike exit ramp Thursday, but the body of the driver was nowhere to be found.

Turns out he’d fallen into a canal below the exit ramp.

The body of a 40-year-old Hollywood man was pulled from a Plantation canal near the Turnpike on Saturday.

Two days earlier, the man was heading north on the Turnpike and took the exit ramp to Sunrise Boulevard when he crashed, said Lt. Indiana Miranda, a spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol.

Rescue workers responded to the scene but could not find the driver. At the time, they did not realize he’d fallen into the canal below, Miranda said.

The man’s body was not discovered until Saturday.

Highway Patrol officials have not released the man’s name.
