AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) -- Classes at Amherst Central High School were canceled Monday after an electrical fire broke out in an HVAC unit, according to a district spokesperson.
All students were sent home after the fire and no students or staff were in any danger.
The fire occurred in the athletics wing of the school as busses were coming to the school, the district said.
All bused students and students dropped off by parents were diverted to the middle school while the decision to cancel classes was made. High school students were transported home after the middle school bus runs finished, the district said.
After school activities at the high school were also canceled Monday.
