Mum shares ‘cute individual lunch box’ her son was given at a birthday party – but it divides opinion
THROWING a children’s birthday party can be complicated, particularly when kids have different dietary requirements.
One mum revealed she was left delighted after another parent made her vegan son his own lunch box to eat at one party so he wasn’t left out.
She wrote: “My son is at a birthday party and look at this cute individual lunch box they made up for him.
“I said I was happy to bring everything but looooooookkkk.”
The mum shared the “vegan box” which had a labelled sticker on the front sharing the contents.
Inside was a faux “chicken” sandwich, mini “no” eggs, sweet potato falafel bites, a vegan sausage roll and a vegan Kit Kat bar.
The birthday box was shared online, and has split opinion in the comments.
Many people praised the other parent for catering to his specific needs.
One wrote: “I’m not even vegan but would explore these treats. I love that for him.”
Another added: “I always used to do this for my kids parties.. and as a cake maker I also always made sure there was a vegan/gluten free option for cake too. Everyone deserves to enjoy a party.”
A third commented: “How lovely and considerate of the party organiser.”
However, some cruelly criticised the parents for the child’s vegan dietary choices.
One said: “You are traumatising your son at an early age. Well done.”
Another added: “Give him a slab of roast beef and watch him groooowww.”
We previously shared how a mum revealed her four-year-old son was left devastated after school friends refused to attend his birthday party because she would be serving vegan food.
Malachi Craine’s mother, Angel Craine, said they had handed out invitations to his party but no one sent in their RSVPs.
The 27-year-old had planned to make a chocolate vegan cake for her son’s Pokemon-themed party at the end of October.
She was shocked to discover that the children at her son’s school began bullying him for having the dairy free cake.
“They’ve all bullied him and told him they aren’t coming unless he has cow [dairy] in his cake,” she told 7 News.
“I just can’t get over that kids his age already bully vegans. [Malachi] was pretty sad that no one wants to be his friend or come but he’s pretty resilient.”
