Section 2 girls high school flag football league to be announced

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Tuesday, a press conference will be held to announce the first Section 2 Girls High School Flag Football League. The press conference will be held in tandem with the New York Giants, Kidz First Youth Development Network, Section 2 Athletics, and the New York State Laborers Local 190.

The league will offer a training recruitment program offered to interested high school girls led by Laborers Local 190.

“The KidsFirst youth development network is pleased to be working with the New York
Giants, Section 2 Athletics, and the New York State Laborers Local 190 in providing the
first Girls Flag Football League in the Capital Region.” said KidzFirst CEO John D’Antonio.
"We are also excited about the opportunity to partner with Labors Local 190 in providing a
first-of-its-kind training recruitment program for high school girls."

creation of high school girls flag football. Over the last 2 years, participation in the sport
has grown immensely across the state and we are excited that Section 2 will have a
chance to compete for the first-ever NYSPHSAA state championship this upcoming
spring. We are thrilled to be back in the Capital District to celebrate and support the
athletes, coaches, and community," said Tara Belinsky, Giants Manager of Community
Relations and Youth Football.
