Everyone is baffled by the floating cat head but you’re in the top 1% if you can figure out what’s really going on

Only those with a knack for optical illusions will be able to make sense of the image.
This puzzle was shared on the Reddit thread r/opticalillusions with one person asking, “Can someone help??”
“I’ve been staring at this for so long and can’t figure it out,” they wrote.
“I’m about to go crazy cuz of this.”
In the foreground a cat’s leg can be seen and below on the floor is the head of another cat.
Can you figure out what is going on in this image?
On another post about the image, users shared their frustrations.
“This is hurting my head, how is this possible?!?!?!?” one user asked.
Another simply concluded that the puzzle was too tricky so it must be “a headless cat.”
As users gave each other clues some seemed to get more confused.

A key problem that users realized was that they were trying to connect the leg to the head of the cat.

The picture can be solved by looking closely at the foreground of the image.
Where the cat’s leg is, there are large tiles and these are not replicated in the background where the bike is.
The reason for this is that the cat in the foreground on the tiles is standing on a large step.
Meanwhile, the head of the other cat is poking over the step from a lower level with its body against the base of the step.
