I tried 5 viral drugstore eyeliners & found 2 I loved for less than $10 each – the fourth was definitely worth the hype
A MAKEUP lover tried on several drugstore products to see which one took the top prize.
She tested out five budget-friendly and popular eyeliners and found two favorites for less than $10.
Self-described “beauty bestie” Rachel Finley (@hydrationceo) is a fan of all things skincare and cosmetics.
She evaluated five viral liquid eyeliners in an Instagram Reel, so you don’t have to.
To test out their durability, she wore each one for an entire day, Monday to Friday, to test their “wear” and how long they lasted.
Rachel kicked it off with the L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Superstar, which she claimed was “abysmal” and the worst she’s ever tried.
On Tuesday, she tried the very popular waterproof NYX Epic Ink Liner, which was easy to apply, but by the end of the day, most of it had fallen off her face and was smudgy.
Things picked up by the third day when she tried another NYX liquid eyeliner.
The NYX Vivid Matte Liquid Liner, $9.00, came with a brush tip, which she liked, but was not a fan of how it got all over her eyelashes.
According to the product description, the NYX product has an intense, quick-dry formula for “flawlessly precise lines” that are smudge-proof and should last up to 12 hours.
“The wing was looking snatched. Like Very black. Very opaque,” she said.
How did it last after wearing it all day?
“I think she held on there. It wasn’t perfectly crisp but pretty good for 12 hours,” she said.
On Thursday, she moved on to another makeup item that was worth the hype.
The L’Oreal Paris Super Slim Liquid Eyeliner, $9.99, was “easy to get a sharp wing.”
The liner is advertised as “fade, flake, and smudge-resistant” which Rachel put to the test.
Upon initial application, she liked the result, but how did it fare later?
“Y’all it is many hours later and this slayed!” said.
“This is definitely worth the hype. No flaking. No smudging. No cracking.”
Lastly, she completed her five-day test with the Revlon Colorstay Micro Easy Precision Liner, $9.99.
“I’ve actually used it for a while now because I love this super tiny felt tip,” she said.
“This stuff truly is bulletproof. It lasts the whole day. No issues.”
In the end, the winner was the Revlon product, which she is wearing in the image below.
She thought it was better than the “prestige brands” she had worn before.
Most of the beauty products were under $10, which was a major deal.
“Thanks for this! I’ve never tried the L’Oréal one!” a viewer commented.
“Super super interesting video!! Thank you for this!!” another wrote.
