Alleged paramedic thief appears in Bethlehem Court
BETHLEHEM, N.Y. (NEWS10) — Bail conditions remain the same for Devvan Farina, following a preliminary court hearing Tuesday night. Farina is a now-suspended Troy Firefighter and soon-to-be-fired part-time Albany County Sheriff’s Department paramedic. He’s accused of stealing from patients’ houses who he knew were hospitalized. Court documents obtained by NEWS10 give more insight into his burglary spree across Albany County.
Farnia’s alleged slew of crimes had him hopscotching throughout the Delmar-Bethlehem area.
- January 31st Aertsan Place, Delmar. Documents say Frania busted out a window screen attempting to burglarize a home.
- Gay Street, Delamar in January. Farina is accused stealing of a gold watch and diamond ring from a victim’s home.
- January, in another incident on Gay Street, a victim says they went to the hospital for rib pain. Upon returning home they noticed their mother’s wedding ring, husband’s wedding ring and other jewelry worth about $1,690 were missing.
- January 24th Kenaware Avenue in Delmar: Farina allegedly broke in through a window unaware that the homeowners removed all valuables.
- Farina was arrested and charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors including burglary and attempted burglary. He’s being represented by a public defender
Farina's bail remains at $20,000 cash, $40,000 bond, or $60,000 partially secured bond. He is scheduled to be back in court on March 5th. Anyone who believes they are a victim has been asked to contact Bethlehem or Troy police.
