Rohit Sharma gives a heartfelt response to emotional plea made by Sarfaraz Khan’s father

IND VS ENG: Naushad, Sarfaraz Khan’s father, was deeply moved when his son received his Test cap from the iconic Anil Kumble ahead of the India vs England 3rd Test in Rajkot. He was joined by his daughter-in-law, Romana, as they stood on the sidelines during the cap presentation ceremony at the Nirajan Shah Stadium before the toss. After the presentation, Sarfaraz immediately rushed towards his father and wife to share the special moment and show them his cherished possession.

Overwhelmed by emotions, they found themselves unable to hold back tears, leading to warm embraces and heartfelt prayers. Following this emotional exchange, India captain Rohit Sharma made a point to personally meet Sarfaraz’s family. The efforts made by Naushad and his family to nurture Sarfaraz and his brother Musheer into cricketers are widely known and appreciated by all.

Rohit Sharma expressed his acknowledgment to Naushad for his contributions to Sarfaraz’s journey, shaking his hand before heading off to prepare for the toss. He also extended his congratulations to Sarfaraz’s wife, Romana. As Rohit was about to enter the dressing room, Naushad made a heartfelt plea, placing his hand on his chest and saying, “Please take care of him.” Rohit reassured him with a firm “Of course, of course.”

Sarfaraz Khan capitalized on his 48-ball fifty, effectively countering the opposition bowlers and standing out on a day dominated by centuries from captain Rohit Sharma (131) .

“I felt really happy,” Sarfaraz told reporters.

“Coming to the ground for the first time and got the cap in front of my father. I was six years old when he started my cricket,” the 26-year-old said.

Sarfaraz came out to bat after Rohit’s departure and, following a nervous start, found his rhythm with boundaries to entertain the crowd.

He reached his 50 after a dominant show against the spinners and raised the bat to his family and the applauding dressing room.

“I was padded for almost four hours. I kept thinking that I have kept so much patience in life and there is no harm in keeping some more,” he said.”After I went in, was nervous for first few balls but I have practised and worked so hard that everything went well.”

Sarfaraz’s innings ended with a runout following a misunderstanding with Jadeja, but his performance garnered admiration from the opposition team.
