Myles Turner Wins 2024 NBA All-Star Skills Challenge in Nike Kobe 6 Protro ‘Reverse Grinch’ Shoes
Indiana Pacers’ Myles Turner, Tyrese Haliburton and Bennedict Mathurin won the skill competition during the NBA All-Star Saturday Night on Feb. 17 in Indianapolis. The Pacers trio became the third host team in as many years to win the challenge after beating the Team All-Star and Team First Overall Picks.
And they did that while also bringing their shoe game to the court.
Turner, for once, caught social media’s attention with his shoe choice. The player wore a pair of Nike Kobe 6 Protro “Reverse Grinch” shoes. The style was released in December 2023 as a nod to the original “Grinch” sneakers, which dropped in 2010.
The “Reverse Grinch” features a scaled-like micro-mesh upper, secured with neon green laces and accented with a black Swoosh. The sneaker sits on a lightweight cushion midsole with a springy zoom air unit in the forefoot.
The “Rever Grinch” release was part of a new deal between Vanessa Bryant, who is the manager of the late Kobe Bryant’s estate, and Nike. They both agreed in August to relaunch the Kobe line.
The NBA All-Star Weekend is a basketball spectacle that brings together the league’s top talent for a series of events. Highlighted by the All-Star Game, the weekend showcases incredible skills in the Slam Dunk Contest and Three-Point Contest. Beyond the on-court excitement, it features celebrity games and engaging fan events, creating a vibrant atmosphere for basketball enthusiasts worldwide.
