QUEENS, N.Y. (PIX11) – At least five people were injured in a fire at a Queens residence Monday afternoon, according to the FDNY.

The flames burst out just before 12 p.m. on the second and third floors of a building on Fresh Pond Road, according to the FDNY. The fire quickly spread to a neighboring building, and took about an hour and a half to get under control, authorities said.

Four civilians and a firefighter were injured during the fire, and all but one were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, authorities said.

A mother and her two children, ages 4 and 9, were rescued from the burning building shortly after the fire broke out, authorities said.

A lithium-ion battery was found at the house, but the cause of the fire was not immediately clear, according to a source familiar with the investigation.
