'In 3 NE states, 50% use wood, mixed biomass'

A recent study reveals the ill effects of cooking on firewood stoves and biomass fuel in northeastern states. Exposure to harmful aerosols is 2-19 times higher in firewood kitchens than in LPG kitchens. The population using firewood and mixed biomass faces 2-57 times higher disease burdens. Urgent transition to cleaner cooking methods is required.
