Man steals ambulance while hospitalized with injuries from stolen car crash in Fairfax Co., police say
Police are looking for a man who was injured in a crash in Fairfax County, Virginia, earlier Monday afternoon then reportedly stole an ambulance from the hospital where he was receiving treatment Monday night.
The man was a passenger in the stolen car that crashed on Route 50 at Interstate 66, leaving four others injured, Fairfax County police said.
The driver in that crash, who has not been identified by officials, left a parking lot near the Fair Oaks Mall and, upon seeing police, sped up on Route 50 before crashing and becoming airborne at the ramp to the interstate. Five adults in the car were taken to the hospital, including one with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police said they recovered two firearms and narcotics from the stolen car.
In a post on X around 9:30 p.m., police said the man had stolen a private medical ambulance after walking away from treatment at the Inova Fairfax Hospital. The vehicle was found abandoned on Annandale Road in Falls Church.
