Pundit thinks summer transfer target is the ‘perfect Tottenham Hotspur player’

Robbie Earle fully endorses the idea of Tottenham signing Pedro Neto, insisting that the winger would be a perfect fit for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Neto has been in scintillating form throughout the season and the winger showed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday just why there is so much hype around him.

The Spurs defence found it extremely difficult to cope with the 23-year-old’s guile and technical quality, allied with his athletic attributes.

It was the Portugal international who set up the match-winner for Gary O’Neil’s men, showing a tremendous turn of pace before cutting back and picking out Joao Gomes, who drilled the ball home.

It has been widely reported over the last couple of weeks that Tottenham and Arsenal are expected to battle it out for the Wolves star’s signature next summer (The Sun), with some publications suggesting over recent days that the winger is expected to cost around £60m (The Standard).

Pedro Neto would be a hit at Tottenham

Earle believes that would be money well spent for Spurs, opining that the former Braga man is exactly the kind of player the Lilywhites need.

The pundit said on The 2 Robbies podcast: “Pedro Neto, my friend, is an absolute diamond who, I put a note – and I hope Wolves fans don’t hate me for this – would be a perfect Tottenham Hotspur player by the way, playing in them wide positions on the counter-attack with pace, dropping inside, making goals. Beautiful player.”

We know that Postecoglou likes direct, aggressive, wingers with pace and Neto fits the profile perfectly. However, the 23-year-old injury record may be a matter of concern for Spurs and other potential suitors, particularly if Wolves demand a huge fee for the player.
